As we have already wrote, Nasha Niva discovered a secret plan to turn the former Roman catholic (Bernardin) cloister (built in 17-18th century) into a hotel. The reaction of the Catholic church was immediate – the St. Joseph Catholic community in Minsk started collecting signatures under the petition, demanding the return of the cloister to the church. Moe than 100 signatures are collected every day, with their overall number already exceeding 700. The active position of the catholics gives hope, that the “reconstruction” of the cloister will be prevented, and Minsk will not loose one of its landmarks.
